Tweet Smell of Success

As with most major developments on the Web, the success of Twitter could not have been predicted 18 months ago. It is now huge and still growing and estimated to be worth about $1 billion. It recently passed the 10 billion tweet mark. Of course this includes the tweets confirming that XYZ is cleaning their teeth, going out the front door and other sad get a life announcements but the scale of this communication cannot be ignored by business promoters.
 

Business to business marketers are taking twitter seriously and there are a variety of well known brands using it , including some in financial services. Of course this is not the sort of marketing that I was taught at college all those years ago. Twitter and Social Media marketing is about creating brand awareness and loyalty whilst listening and engaging with the target audience.  It is certainly not selling but more like being a lot more business friendly with your audience. 

Getting started on Twitter and the others is difficult for many businesses. Everyone is raving about it but what about exactly? It is time to do some research because social media marketing will become more important and understanding it will be key to using it effectively in the future.
