Trust Marks helping ecommerce to grow
11th October 2011
Online crime is usually caused by a fraudster pretending to be someone they are not. Offering a quick and reliable way to check the validity of a Website and its owners is therefore a vital part of trading online responsibly. Website security is big business, with Trust Mark providers investing in evermore sophisticated techniques to block-out the fraudsters. Whilst this is increasing costs, it is also helping ecommerce to grow.

Most of the major browser software like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari now recognise sites with high level SSL certificates and will indicate this on their searches to give the user a very visual sign of safety. The development of advance security software as well as industry and governmental initiatives and standards will all play a part in improving online security in the years ahead.

At a time when the fear of online fraud is high, Website security, real and perceived is crucial and well worth investing in.
